Normandy Study Abroad Program Base in Bayeux

Students shopping in Bayeux, France

Although this photo doesn't show it, we stayed in Normandy in the important medieval city of Bayeux, France. This photo shows the students enroute to a shopping trip to E. Leclerc, a Wal-Mart like store chain of supermarkets across France. This store was conveniently near to our Bayeux hotel.

Students in Bayeux

A little more medieval is this photo of the students in downtown Bayeux near an old mill.

Students and Bayeux Cathedral

Now this IS medieval--students with Bayeux Cathedral in the background! This is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Europe. The British troops were responsible for liberating the city after D-Day and in the fighting the cathedral was badly damaged. Most, but not all of the cathedral and its fine sculptures, have been restored.

Here is another view of Bayeux cathedral earlier that evening on 21 June 2011!

Students at the old mill in Bayeux

You can see from this photo of students at the nearby old mill that they enjoyed their stay in this centrally located Normandy city!
